The party of the year kicks off with the teams’ parade through central Wellington. It's a great chance to welcome all the teams, get into the party mood, and score a few freebies.

Here’s your chance to shine at the NZI Sevens. We are seeking singers to audition to be one of five finalists who will perform in front of over 35,000 fans at the 2010 NZI Sevens. Details to come!



THE DOMINION POST FASHION RUNWAY

Date: Friday, 5 February – Wellington Railway Station
Time: 11:30am – 12:15pm
Make sure you dress your best at this year’s NZI Sevens. The DPFP (DomPost Fashion Police) will once again be staging a fashion competition in front of the Wellington Railway Station for the best dressed. Enter from 11:15am onwards on the day, great prizes to be won. The DPFP will also be out in force over the whole NZI Sevens weekend giving the more inventive (or brave) costume wearers the chance to win great prizes. Look out for them; they will be snapping photos of the best dressed and then publishing the winning costumes in The Dominion Post on Tuesday, 9 February.



WAITANGI DAY CELEBRATION

Date: Saturday 6 February 2010
Time: 10am – 4pm – Tournament on the big screen from 5pm.
Get down to Waitangi Park to celebrate our national day. Lots of different cultures are hosted Tangata Whenua – with kapa haka, drumming, dance multicultural acts and much more. Let the sound of Wellington move you, taste traditional hangi and multicultural delicacies of the inviting food stalls, take a wander through the unique market stalls, and don’t forget – there’s lots of fun and games for the kids! If you haven’t got a ticket to the NZI Sevens bring the family down and enjoy free viewing of the tournament from 5pm onwards.



COURTENAY PLACE STREET PARTY

AT THE STADIUM


SPEIGHT’S SUMMIT DODGEBALL

Date: Friday 5 February and Saturday 6 February 2010
Time: 1pm – 6:30pm
Speight’s Summit Dodgeball returns to the NZI Sevens in 2010. The tournament will be held on the plaza and the structure is simple. If your team defeats 3 consecutive challengers it progresses to the Speight’s Summit Dodgeball Grand Finals which kick off on Saturday 6 February at 4pm. To get a feel for the game check it out at Civic Square after the Street Parade on Thursday 4 Feb.
