Getting to know more about the region’s fascinating ecological heritage is easy this summer with three free Great Outdoors summer events 2011 events showcasing regional parks.

“Regional parks provide beautiful backdrops to our region but they’re even better when you get out and about in them,” says Cr Nigel Wilson, Chair of Greater Wellington’s Cultural and Social Wellbeing Committee. (This committee’s responsibilities include regional parks and forests.)

Cr Wilson says that the events are a great introduction to regional parks and an opportunity for regular visitors to learn something new. “You might be surprised at what’s on offer. From scenic walks in beautiful hidden forests to exploring the regional history contained in these parks – each event offers a unique experience.”

The walks will be guided by Greater Wellington rangers and experts from the community who know the areas well.
