Auckland’s flagship Toyota dealership, Auckland City Toyota is proud to announce a partnership with the popular Bike The Bridge cycling event which will take place on November 16 2014.
“Auckland City Toyota tends to align itself with events or organisations that improve Auckland and the life of its people”, say the dealership’s Marketing Manager, Steve Vermeulen. This announcement comes on the back of their recent ‘Drive For Good’ campaign set up with the Auckland City Mission where Auckland City Toyota traded $10 WOF vouchers for canned food donations to support that charity’s Winter Appeal.
Their CEO, Rick Armstrong, is a very passionate cyclist and their parent company, the Armstrong Motor Group, is a very ‘health and wellbeing’ conscious organisation which has partnered with many cycling or fitness related events in the past, including the Armstrong Motor Group Wellington Marathon.

Upon moving to Auckland, Rick quickly identified Bike The Bridge as an endeavour close to his heart and one that not only aids the research in Multiple Sclerosis but also promotes cycling and physical activity with the youth of Auckland. “I’ve found keeping myself active is the best way to stay mentally alert in business and it’s a fantastic stress reducer. I’m happy to get behind anything that promotes that sort of activity with our community. And of course riding over the Harbour Bridge is an opportunity that doesn’t come along every day; I can’t wait to participate in the ride”.

Bike the Bridge is an experience like no other and participants are invited to share an unforgettable ride of a lifetime cycling over the Auckland Harbour Bridge with friends, old and new, in support of the Multiple Sclerosis Auckland Region Trust. Bike the Bridge will return for the third year to Auckland on the 16th of November 2014.

The three headline events offer the unique experience of riding over the iconic Auckland Harbour Bridge and the full length of the Northern Busway. For the two longer rides the course is both scenic and a little challenging. The third rider friendly event delivers cyclists directly into North Harbour stadium, where all events will finish, and where fun and spectator friendly events for both Primary School children and pre-schoolers will be staged.

Our goals are very similar to last year’s event, where we hope to increase participation not just for the event but also for they hope to raise more funds for MS.  The Trust has so far raised close to $170,000 for MS and have also raised awareness for the organisation. MS research and programmes are expensive, but events like this which enjoy healthy corporate and community support give companies like Auckland City Toyota the opportunity to generate significant funding for MS.
