Rodney Wayne began his career far removed from the industry he is in today – carving a path as a butcher’s apprentice as a teenager based in Nelson. However it wasn’t long before Rodney replaced sharp knives with a pair of scissors and moved to Melbourne to study at Hairdressing College. Rodney opened his first Auckland salon in the CBD in 1980 and immediately the lavishly-decorated salon captured the attention of Aucklanders looking for a world-class style. He took style to the suburbs and within eight years of first opening, Rodney was operating eight salons. Rodney quickly realised an in depth consultation was vital to understanding and achieving the clients’ needs and wishes.  Great service and even better hair were his hallmarks.

Twenty years on there are 37 salons in the Rodney Wayne stable and 14 Shampoo ‘n’ Things haircare stores across the country.
