Rockburn has taken out the Trophy for Best Red Wine below HK $200 at the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Wine and Spirit Competition 2014.

Rockburn Pinot Noir 2012, already dripping with 7 previous gold medals, was last night awarded the Trophy at the glittering awards ceremony cocktail reception held in Hong Kong.

The Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Wine & Spirit Competition is a unique event and the first of its kind. It is held in partnership with the London-based International Wine & Spirit Competition, which has been running for 45 years.

This award comes only weeks after Rockburn Pinot Noir 2012 being awarded #1 Pinot Noir in Cuisine Magazine’s annual tasting out of 159 other New Zealand Pinot Noirs.

Rockburn are honoured to add this latest award from the “world’s leading wine competition.”

Rockburn’s Winemaker, Malcolm Rees-Francis, feels “Pitting your wines in any international competition can be quite daunting; it is a real privilege to come away with a result like this and show that there is still plenty of love out there for Central Otago Pinot Noir.”

Rockburn’s General Manager commented; “This award is testament to how well our wines are being received by judges not just in the domestic market but also on the international stage.
We are very keen to now use this as a platform to find a suitable Hong Kong distributor and launch Rockburn into the market’’
