Hamilton-based Sitech Systems New Zealand have developed a revolutionary new mobile TV screen product – a monster Mobile Video Wall Trolley – which will change the way we use digital devices and video technology in the big meeting room, Fieldays exhibition site, the lecture theatre, the school classroom and for business.

Developed in partnership with the Teaching Technology gurus in the Information Technology Services team at Victoria University in Wellington, there are two factors that make the Sitech Systems Mobile Video Wall Trolleys a market first, namely their comfortable portability and screen size (130 inch), which is impressive.

“The two key points of difference are its mobility and its size. Other companies usually have one or the other, this Mobile Video Wall Trolley has both,” says Matt Cowan, the Manufacturing Manager of Sitech Systems NZ Ltd.

“When combined the four screens are an effective 130cms screen size which makes for stunning viewing, especially to crowded room.  It’s a very big screen and yet our design has made it extremely mobile,” Cowan says.  “It really is the Julian Savea of video screens in the market.”

Cowan says that the innovative Mobile Video Wall Trolley has the potential to revolutionise the mobile digital display sector. The screens sit on two motorised struts that allow the operator to raise the screen up to just under 3 metres high, and to drop it down to 1.9 metres when moving it around.

“When a user splits it into the two trolleys it can be effortlessly moved around campus, as it can easily fit through most standard door frames. It is great for any teaching or presentation situation. It has the versatility and size that other screens simply don’t have,” says Cowan.

“It will allow the display of a student’s digital work to be impactful in a large setting and allows the celebration of student success to be shared in large hall spaces in a 24/7 setting,” Cowan says.

“The old way of putting up posters exhibiting student work or advertising an event struggles to fit into today’s digital device driven world,” he says. “The days of static notice boards or small TVs with a welcome notice are going as people demand video and want to catch a viewer’s attention.”

“This unit can be wheeled into any teaching or exhibition space very easily and it gives real flexibility to the management of lecture theatres and allows back up in the case of an AV failure to existing equipment.”

Cowan said the project was a “complex beast”.

“We have been making single unit mobile touch screen trolleys for some years and took the lessons we learnt from our customer experiences into the research and development process. We needed to get the impact of four 65 inch of the latest Samsung screens safely through a standard door and easily move about the campus.

“Working with the team at Victoria University and in our Wellington office allowed us to create something quite special and in a very short time frame. “We have found in its testing phase that having such a large screen (130 inch) in a meeting room means all eyes are focussed on what you put into it. It just grab’s people attention unlike anything we have seen” Cowan says.

The first of the ground breaking Sitech Screens has already been purchased by Victoria University in Wellington.

“We source product from all over the world and have our own manufacturing division in Hamilton so we are able to incorporate these products to design and produce Kiwi solutions for Kiwi schools,” he said.

The Mobile Video Wall (MVW) trolleys are not only great for the education sector, they are also perfect for hospitality and event management industries.

“Large entertainment and hospitality venues will find their clients will love the MVWs presentation impact and the venue will appreciate its flexibility, mobility and multi-purpose design. Gone is the need to buy a multitude of large wall hung units that cannot be moved around and adapted to different client’s requirements,” Cowan says.
