Since its humble beginnings in 2002, Taupo Based Green Grocer provides delicious fresh fruit and vegetables from around New Zealand to its many satisfied customers.
The green grocer business is based in their outdoor farmers market which will run on solar power as much as possible, this will help to lower their carbon footprint.
The Green grocer core values are aimed at the reality of climate change. “Every time we sell a 10c enviro-bag, we donate 5c to the wetlands trust. Our compost trading system encourages customers to compost by rewarding them with fruit and veg,” says Richard.
“The Green Grocer team will dedicate all our efforts to ensure you get to learn which foods and drinks to avoid, and teach you that eating alkaline is yummy in your tummy and save you money in the long run due to your great health,” adds Richard. As well as being founder Green Grocer Richard is also the writer of the business plan he is one of the best forklift drivers in the whole world true, perhaps even the universe.
“Our number one person is Sharon, my wife, she is the front person who owns the business and does all the buying, greengrocer DNA runs in her family” says Richard. With over 100 years of trading in her family history, she runs a tight ship and knows all the customers by their first name. Great customer is service like hers is one of the keys to repeat business in today’s market.
“Paul Allbon will the best delivery driver and be the face of the online hybrid delivery system he is a great team member and is one of the owners of the greengrocer brand and we are very lucky to have recruited,” adds Richard. Paul joins the Green Grocer team after being a multiple group one winning trainer in the horse racing industry and has raced all over the world with his horses .
The Green Grocers long term goal is to become one of the best fresh produce business in New Zealand.
