The doors have closed on the largest display of motorhomes, caravans and accessories ever seen in one venue in New Zealand with organisers and exhibitors calling it a huge success.

“It’s been a massive success from a number of angles,” General Manager of the Covi SuperShow David Culpan said.

“We experienced a twenty one percent increase in the number of visitors to the show with over 18,000 people coming through the gates to see what was the largest motorhome and caravan exhibition ever staged in New Zealand. Exhibitors experienced a huge increase in sales, with early indications showing that there were over 150 motorhomes and caravans sold over the duration of the show.”

TrailLite General Manager Shaun Newman said his business had a great response at the Covi Supershow with record sales.  “Huge numbers are joining the motorhome lifestyle and that was reflected by the large numbers of visitors over the three days,” he said.  “Our thanks go out to the organisers for providing such a great showcase for the growing industry.”

Michael Becker from Smart RV and Wilderness Motorhomes echoed what many of the exhibitors were saying, that the move of the show to end of summer – it used to be held in September - proved to be a winner for all, consumers and exhibitors.

“Talking to fellow exhibitors they all had a great show and we are all already looking forward to the next Covi SuperShow which we are sure will be even bigger and better again. Show organisation was very professional and everything worked seamlessly; we as exhibitors, like that very much as it means we can focus on the visitors.”

Show visitors had the opportunity to win back $10,000 on purchases worth over $30,000 and the chance to win the Ultimate Road Trip, a 59 day MOTEK motorhoming adventure across America, Australia and New Zealand, worth $40,000 which was won by a ‘stunned’ Libby Buttimore from Simpsons Beach in Whitianga on the Coromandel.

“I just couldn’t believe it,” she said recalling receiving the news from Culpan. “I’m over the moon; I’ve never won anything like this before.”

The show was the only expo in New Zealand endorsed and supported by the New Zealand Motor Caravan Association. The association ran a very successful National Rally in neighbouring Alexandra Park that attracted more than 700 vehicles, one of the biggest rallies the NZMCA have ever held with many also attending the Eagles rock concert at Mt Smart Stadium on the Friday and Saturday nights.

Organiser say they are already planning next year’s Covi SuperShow with some thoughts on some additional features that will add even more value.

“We are definitely not resting on our laurels,” Culpan said. “We will continue striving to provide visitors to the show the best motorhoming and caravanning exhibition we can, whilst giving our exhibitors the best platform we can to display their products and services.”
