FIJI AIRWAYS is New Zealand and the Pacific’s newest gateway to America. Being an active member of the Pacific community they are sponsoring Samoan Return to Paradise Resort during their nostalgia gala weekend on the 15th to 17th of May. The four-star resort, located in Lefaga, Samoa, will be hosting a gala screening of the movie Return to Paradise to celebrate the film’s 60th anniversary with a weekend of glitz and glamour.

Hollywood actress Roberta Haynes, who played the lead role in the film opposite Gary Cooper, is being sponsored business class by the airline to attend the event. “We’re happy to help fly over Roberta Haynes to celebrate Return to Paradise,” says Pichler. “This is a symbolic event for Samoa, not just because the movie was based there but also because [a] new resort means more room inventory for Samoa, which is great.”

Miss Haynes will alight to a big welcome hosted by the Samoan Government before treading the red carpet to the movie screening where she will be united with other cast members.

As well as attending the movie screening, Hayes will be a guest of honour at a charity auction and ball held at the resort the following night with Samoan actor Robbie Magasiva as MC. The evening, also sponsored by Fiji Airways, will benefit the Marist Trust, a charity which was set up to help Samoans and Fijians who are living with spinal injuries. All Black captain Richie McCaw, and Masterchef Simon Gault lead a host of high profile celebrities are donating prizes for the auction.

Fiji Airways now has the most convenient and direct route from Samoa to the US mainland with a short stopover in Nadi.  This is the route on which the airline will bring Miss Haynes out from Hollywood.

The airline has recently opened a new business class lounge at Los Angeles International Airport’s Tom Bradley International Terminal for its business class and Tabua Club passengers, making business class travel more comfortable than ever.

The airline has recently opened up its destination offerings to include easier access to some of the most popular North American destinations. The carrier now flies daily between Los Angeles and Nadi Airport, and also flies regularly to Hawaii throughout the week.

Fiji Airways Board Director Stefan Pichler says, “Fiji Airways connects Samoa directly to Hawaii and to Los Angeles via our Nadi hub. Additionally, we connect Apia to the Fijian Capital, Suva. So we obviously play a big part in travel to [and] from Samoa and are happy to help where we can.”

The Hollywood Returns to Paradise Weekend is proving very popular with tickets selling fast to both the Movie Premiere and the Charity Gala Ball.

“This movie was a huge part of our history and we are very grateful to Fiji Airways for bringing Roberta Haynes back to us,” says Resort chairman Hinauri Petana;  “so we invite you to come and joins us as we dress up and celebrate a weekend of glamour.”
