After more than 13 years at Rangi Ruru Girls’ School, Principal Julie Moor is to finish her tenure at the end of this year.

Board of Governors Chairman, Mr Stuart Nattrass, today announced the resignation of Ms Moor, effective from 31 December 2015.

Mr Nattrass says Ms Moor has made an enormous contribution to the success of Rangi Ruru and has been instrumental in building and maintaining the “excellent health” in which she will leave the school.

"Julie is one of the longest serving principals in Christchurch and she can be very proud of her many achievements. She has worked tirelessly to ensure the school has continued to be recognised as one of the leading girls’ schools in the country,” he says.

The chairman adds that Rangi Ruru students and staff have benefitted not only under Julie Moor’s exceptional leadership, but also as a result of the leadership capability she has embedded within the school's infrastructure and culture.

“The school's distinctive impact and lasting endurance is not reliant on one particular leader. Julie has ensured that the strong position of the school and its education delivery will be maintained during the transition to a new principal."

Ms Moor says it is timely to leave her role with Rangi, as the wellbeing of students, teachers and the school community is strong and resilient, and the current stage of campus redevelopment has  just been completed, on time and on budget.

"Sometimes change can be unsettling but this is a good time for both me and Rangi to embrace change,” she says. “This is an excellent time for a successor to take ownership and leadership of the next stage of the school's future strategic direction,” she says.

Mr Nattrass finishes by saying that Ms Moor has focussed on supporting and enabling the growth of leadership (amongst the students and staff), maintaining a high standard of teaching quality and learning environment, supported by an exceptional management team.

“Julie will be missed by us all but as she herself has said to me,  it’s business as usual right now. She will finish at the end of the year and that’s more than six months away,”

Julie Moor has been in the position of Principal at Rangi Ruru since 2002, prior to which she was Deputy Principal at the school.

The Board will shortly begin the process of advertising and recruiting for a new Principal of Rangi Ruru Girls' School.
