Argus Fire Provides Fire Protection For NZ's Largest Retail Centre

Argus Fire Protection is a privately managed and independent full service provider of all fire protection systems and equipment who have earned a reputation second to none for their service, quality and competitiveness through hard work and emphasis on high levels of service. A couple of years’ ago they secured the contract to provide their fire protection services for The Base, which is now the largest retail centre in New Zealand. TE AWA, the newest showpiece of The Base, was developed by Tainui Group Holdings Ltd in multiple stages from 2008 to 2011.

Te AWA is a high quality retail mall development that houses a range of international retail outlets, with major tenants being Farmers and Hoyts, and uses state of the art technology and management systems.  In doing so, Te AWA sets a new benchmark for retail in Australasia.

Argus became involved initially as part of the design team, developing a fire protection solution with a high degree of flexibility to suit the expanding nature of the project, as well as accommodating a number of spectacular architectural features such as the transparent membrane roof structure known as ETFE (Ethylene Tetra Flouro Ethylene). As the project moved ahead Argus mobilised a construction team to install and commission the fire systems, while continuing the design function for later stages. On completion, the ongoing fire system servicing of this site, as well as a large number of other properties in the Tainui portfolio has been entrusted to the Argus team.
