Since 2014, Hamilton-based technology leaders Rubio have developed first class loyalty card solutions for medium to large businesses.  At its core Rubio is the coming together of people and technology to help grow customer lifetime value.

Rubio’s solutions help a business identify and reward their loyal customers while at the same time providing valuable insights into their customer behaviour and how it could be positively altered in the future.

Rubio has devoted substantial resources to provide the platform your business needs to be successful. The technology platforms power a combined 13 million transactions per week across Australasia, Asia and Europe.

Rubio is one of the only companies in New Zealand able to offer a prepaid rewards card that can be redeemed anywhere that EFTPOS is accepted.

Rubio also offers giftcard solutions that are perfect for medium to large retailers. Giftcards are prepaid cards that a gift giver buys for a gift recipient.

Finally, Rubio has a range of innovative solutions to allow businesses to market to their followers via their mobile phone. This includes location-based offers that can be triggered when you are in a specific location within a store (such as the milk section of a supermarket).

Driving the strategic direction of Rubio is CEO John-Paul Mclean who has a robust background in Strategic Marketing and Management. He has a background in the IT, Veterinary Pharmaceuticals and Finance sectors in which he has held senior roles. John-Paul has a talent for creating strategies to enrich the emotional side of loyalty programmes that can then be incorporated with the transactional or financial aspects of them.

Technology Manager, Benjamin Fellowes has worked in the loyalty and prepaid industry for more than 10 years in the technical, product and marketing roles. He has deep industry knowledge having previously helped Subway launch their landmark loyalty programs in New Zealand and Europe. He has also been intimately involved in the design and deployment of some of the largest retail prepaid programs in New Zealand for brands such as Farmers, Paper Plus and Liquorland. Recently he has consulted on the design of complex reward schemes in both Australia and South East Asia.

Chris Melles, the Requirements and Programme Manager for Rubio, comes from background in operational roles in the transport sector and in the telecommunications sector as a business analyst and software developer for HP, Spark NZ, and Gen-I. He has developed superior solutions to major companies such as the New Zealand Lotteries and Gough Group. In 2011 he switched over to the payments industry where he took up a multi-faceted role encompassing the requirements gathering, solution design and deployment of payment schemes within the New Zealand market.
