Wellington Welcomes the Skin Institute

The new clinic on the Corner of Panama St and Customhouse Quay opened on Monday 27th July after a year’s worth of work and substantial investment.

Skin Institute Wellington is headed up by Dr Shona Dalzell, an experienced and multi award winning doctor in varicose vein treatment, appearance medicine and skin cancer diagnosis and treatment. Shona says working for the Skin Institute over the last three years has allowed her to extend all her areas of interest. She’s thrilled to be opening the new Wellington clinic, which continues to champion the Skin Institute’s multi-disciplinary approach. Shona is joined by Cosmetic Nurse   Smitee Ranchhod and Practice/Theatre Nurse Sue Bibby as well as visiting specialists Rajan Patel (CCPDMA Surgeon), Kenneth Wong (Dermatologist) and Stephen Benson (Skin and Vascular Surgeon).  

The clinic features two operating theatres, a laboratory, consulting suites, cosmetic suites, retail space and recovery areas – with the emphasis on providing impeccable service in the most comfortable and relaxing surroundings. The Skin Institute has invested in a full high-tech laboratory suite to enable Mohs or CCPDMA (Complete Circumferential Peripheral & Deep Margin Assessment) surgery.  This procedure is used mostly on the head and neck area and involves onsite testing of tissue during the procedure.  It is considered the most advanced method of curing skin cancer as well as giving the best cosmetic result.  We also provide varicose vein assessment and all treatments including Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy and the revolutionary walk in walk out Endovenous Ablation treatment. 

We’ve got 18 Skin Institute clinics around the country already but this is our first foray into Wellington. We have created a high-end practice, which offers the company’s trademark multi-disciplinary approach to skin cancer and vein treatment, surgery and appearance medicine. We are really excited to be providing all these services for the people of Wellington and the surrounding areas.

The Skin Institute Wellington facility is open from Monday to Friday and offers a comprehensive range of specialist, cosmetic and surgical services, treatments for skin cancer, veins and appearance medicine, as well as Mohs/CCPDMA surgery for skin cancer. We are a Southern Cross affiliated practice and cover most other Insurance Providers.
