As we would use an architect before we built our home, when we want to landscape our garden, landscape designers are essential to the quality and outcome of the garden. Shape Landscaping can provide one-off designs for people to implement themselves, or they can provide the entire process from landscape design, landscape construction, through to the final completed landscape. They create a specific design which is individual to each client and garden.

Shape Landscaping have a five step design process which includes the following:

Site Consultation - This is the first meeting at the client’s home with their landscape designer. During this time they work with the client to establish what they want with regards to landscaping and they start to pull together some ideas of how the landscaping will look. This is also a good time for clients to get to know the designer, and see some examples of their previous work. Shape Landscaping work with a number of award winning designers, including their in-house designer Alexander McClew and Gary DeBeer who has over 40 years’ experience designing some of the finest gardens in Auckland. As a result of this meeting, the designer will be able to provide a quote for the cost of the design.

Concept Plan - After the site consultation and brief have occurred and the client has accepted the quote for the landscape designer’s work, their designer will then put together a concept plan. This is a rough draft which leads to the final plan. Clients will be able to see and understand the concept that the designer is proposing and are able to make changes or suggestions to make sure that they end up with a landscape design plan that they are 100% happy with.

Final Plan and Working Drawings - The landscape designer will make any necessary changes that the client has suggested which allow them to arrive at the final landscape design plan. This plan will be to scale, and show all the shapes and spaces, the finished heights, and landscaping materials to be used in construction and can be used to work off for construction. When this plan is fully drawn up, the landscape construction team can put together an accurate quote for the landscape work to be done.

Planting plan and additions - The last step is to draw up a schedule of the plants that will be used in the garden. This will be drawn on the landscaping plan, and will show where the plants are to be planted, as well as the plant varieties, sizes, and quantities. Clients can also request to have a plan drawn up for lighting and irrigation should they choose.

Shape Landscaping have many properties which they have designed and constructed, including the following; Hingaia Road - a 2.5 acre section that boasts a beautiful, grand house and breath-taking property. Cable Bay - a gorgeous 7 acre section right on the water in Cable Bay on Waiheke Island. Arney Road - a beautiful villa in Remuera with a garden that perfectly suits this old beauty of a house.
