Taupō's Suncourt Hotel and Conference Centre Welcomes Ski Season

With ski season in full swing on Mount Ruapehu, Taupō’s Suncourt Hotel and Conference Centre is ready for the influx of skiers, snowboarders and families on their way to the snow.
Suncourt Hotel and Conference Centre is situated on Northcroft Street, on Taupō’s lake front. Guests staying at Suncourt at this time of year are in for a treat with many of Suncourt’s rooms offering a view across the lake to the three mountains of the Tongariro National park: Tongariro, Ngaruahoe and Ruapehu.
“Our guests are often blown away by the view from their room,” says Christopher Logan, Suncourt’s Front Office Manager. “At this time of the year, with the snow on the mountains, it really is lovely.”
Mr Logan says Suncourt Hotel and Conference Centre is the perfect place to stop off on the way to the mountain, with free WiFi, an onsite restaurant and clean, warm rooms.
It takes just over an hour to drive from Suncourt Hotel to the Whakapapa Ski Area on Mount Ruapehu or you can continue around the Mountain to the southern side to reach the Turoa ski field.
Whakapapa Ski Area is New Zealand's largest ski area and Turoa is home to the longest vertical drop in Australasia. Facilities on the mountain include cafes, ski and equipment hire, ski and snowboarding school and daycare facilities for 2-5 year olds.
Mount Ruapehu is the highest point in the North Island and is the largest active volcano in New Zealand.
“That’s why Suncourt is busy in summer and winter,” says Mr Logan. “Taupō is a brilliant spot with the lake and activities in the summer and skiing in the winter. It’s perfect.”
