Steampunk comes to life with the 2016 Steampunk the Thames Festival and Chartré Manor is the ideal bed and breakfast accommodation.
Steampunk the Thames runs between November 11-13 in the Coromandel township of Thames.
The festival is being conducted by voluntary organization, Steampunk the Thames Inc.
They are creating this festival to celebrate Thames’ own blend of art, heritage and culture; inspire and stimulate local talent; showcase local art and creativity and attract visitors to town.
“This year's festival will include an amazing lineup of events and also some new innovations for everyone to enjoy,” says Pauline Trebilcock-Charteris, who co-owns Chartré Manor Bed & Breakfast in Thames with her husband, Dennis.
Steampunk is a subgenre of science fiction that celebrates steam-powered technology and is often set in an alternate, futuristic 19th century Victorian England.
The festival kicks off with the Steampunk Meet and Greet at The Brew on Pollen Street on Friday 11th November 2016 from 4pm onwards. This is an opportunity to meet and greet members of the steampunk community, enjoy a social drink and find out more about the Festival and the town of Thames.
“A highlight of the Steampunk the Thanes Festival is definitely the street carnival,” says Pauline. The Street Carnival is basically a vintage circus with old fashion rides, games and food. The event provides the opportunityfor all our families to come out and have some fun.
“We are located only five minutes’ drive from the Thames town centre, so we are ideally located to experience all that the festival has to offer,” adds Pauline
Chartré Manor is also just an hour from Auckland International Airport and 90 minutes from Hamilton, Tauranga and Rotorua. It is perfectly located being within an hour from most attractions on the Coromandel.
