AUCKLAND

If you are looking to book an Auckland family photographer for your family photo shoot, taking the time to plan can pay off big time come the day of your session.  From choosing your outfits to personal grooming tips, your photographer should be able to advise you on how best to prepare and make you all look your best! As a leading family photographer with years of experience, we can provide you with helpful tips and advice ensuring a fun-filled session.

With regards to outfits and colour themes, there is no absolute right or wrong way to dress. A smart casual theme always works well, while traditional and cultural clothing also works should you choose this. Clothing which features logos, writing or branding should be avoided as this tends to date photographs over time. An example of a smart casual theme would include denim jeans and a clean shirt/blouse. A ‘winter fashion' look tends to look more timeless and professional rather than summer, which appears more casual and every day. Above all else it is important to dress in a way that you feel the most comfortable in, as this will show through in your portraits.

For women, assuming you wear makeup you will want to achieve a natural looking skin tone ensuring you cover any blemishes.  If you have any last minute breakouts, don’t worry as these can be retouched digitally during your portrait processing.  Don’t forget to bring along personal grooming items such as hair brushes and combs.

For men, if you have a beard ensure it is trimmed and tidy, or if not, ensure that you are cleanly shaven.  Don’t worry about any shaving rash you may experience; this too can be removed in post-production.

Other simple ways to ensure your family portrait photography look professional include wearing freshly washed outfits, properly ironing your clothing as well as bringing along any accessories you may wish to wear in your portraits.  These can include jewellery, watches, ties etc.  These can add a nice touch to your photos, especially if they hold significant sentimental value.

You can discuss with your photographer prior to making your booking all of the aspects and things that you should consider before arriving on the day.  This will ensure you are all relaxed and looking your best during your portrait session.
