Legendary Rock Icon, David Coverdale, the former lead singer with DEEP PURPLE brings his band WHITESNAKE to New Zealand for the very first time!

Founded in the late 70’s by former Deep Purple lead singer David Coverdale, Whitesnake rocked the world throughout the 80’s & 90’s with their blues-influenced brand of metal. Selling out stadiums across the planet, Whitesnake sold millions of albums and had heavy rotation on MTV. With chart-topping hits like “Is This Love”, “Here I Go Again” (with its famous video of Coverdale’s then-wife actress Tawney Kitaen writhing on the bonnet of an auto), “Still of the Night”, “Slide it In”, and “Slow & Easy”, the band was also known for its fabulous stage presence and connections with its live audiences.

At various points during its storied life, Whitesnake has featured such notable musicians as Jon Lord and Ian Paice (Deep Purple), Steve Vai, Mel Gallery (Trapeze), Aynsley Dunbar (Journey, Starship) and Cozy Powell. Coverdale even released a #1 selling multi-platinum album and tour with Jimmy Page under the name Cloverdale/Page.

The current members of Whitesnake have been playing a series of sold-out reunion tours in the US & Europe since 2003 which Coverdale says “are some of the best performances I’ve ever been associated with.” ROCK2WGTN will be the band’s first ever appearance in New Zealand and, with its signature power ballads and heavy glam rock anthems, will be a major addition to the already phenomenal lineup at the two day Rocktacular. Whitesnake will appear as a special guest appearance for an hour long segment just prior to Ozzy Osbourne on Sunday the 23rd of March.
