Police name victim in Milford crash

MILFORD

At about 3.30 pm on Sunday 13 January 2008 a crash occurred on Milford Road involving a Mitsubishi L300 light van and a coach.

The crash happened near the Gulliver's Bridge approximately 15 km from Milford Sound. 

The van driven by a 28 year old male was heading towards Milford.

It has lost control in wet conditions and spun, crossing the centre line and colliding with the coach.

The only passenger in the van, a female died at the scene.

The deceased woman has been identified as 31 year old Corrina Virginia Alexandria BEDSON of Wales.

Ms BEDSON had been working at Glenorchy.

The injured driver, Ms BEDSON's fiancé is currently in Dunedin hospital. His condition is described as serious but stable.

There were no injuries reported amongst the passengers of the coach, all of which were Indian tourists who had been visiting Milford Sound for the day. 

Police are continuing their investigation to into the cause of the crash. 

Both drivers are yet to be formally interviewed and further inquiries are being carried out in relation to crash scene and the van involved.
