Porirua CIB is still seeking information about two men who two months ago sexually assaulted a young woman as she was walking along the Onepoto waterfront walkway.

Police have released computer sketches of the two young Polynesian offenders in the hope that someone recognises them.

Constable Jocelyn Bell, Porirua CIB, said the assault happened on Thursday night, 22 November 2007, as the slimly built 20-year-old Caucasian victim was walking her small dark-coloured dog along the Onepoto waterfront walkway.

"One man held the woman from behind around her throat and neck while the other sexually assaulted her," Constable Bell said.

Police received some calls from the public when a computer sketch of the man who restrained the woman was released a few days after the assault. The identity of this man is however still unknown.

He is described as: Polynesian, in his late 20s, about 176cm (5ft 9in) tall, of muscular build who was also wearing sports clothing. His facial appearance is similar to the sketch. He also has a tattoo and scar on his left forearm.

A face sketch is now available of the man responsible for the sexual assault. He is described as: Polynesian, about 20 years old, 173cm (5ft 8in) tall, of muscular build, clean shaven and wearing sports clothing. He also wore large fake diamante ear studs.

Constable Bell said attacks of this sort are unacceptable and cause community concern. "Now that we're into summer there are more people out walking or biking. Everyone has the right to feel safe and be safe when they are enjoying recreational activities."

Anyone who has information which will help solve this attack is asked to call Porirua Police on: 04 238 1400 and ask for Constable Bell.
