Quality business assistance and advice available at no cost to entrants.

Papakura and Franklin have today announced a new Business Excellence Programme focused on developing and promoting business excellence in both districts.

The new programme has a principal focus of encouraging businesses to develop a culture of continuous learning and development. It replaces the business excellence awards previously operating in both districts.

Sponsored by major construction industry and building product company Stevenson, the new Business Excellence Programme will run over two years. The first year focuses on business development and precedes a second year in which businesses from both districts are able to enter the combined Business Excellence Awards.

John Rae, Managing Director of Stevenson Group, says the new Stevenson Business Excellence Programme offers local businesses free high quality business advice that commercially-available mentoring programmes would only provide at considerable cost.

“Stevenson has taken an active role in creating business capability and recognising excellence among local businesses for years and we are proud to continue our sponsorship of this programme. Now more than ever businesses need to focus on excellence. They face new challenges and a huge range of opportunities both locally and internationally. This new programme offers valuable assistance with the basics of profitable and sustainable business.”

Mr Rae says as an “elder” in the business world with more than 90 years in operation, Stevenson Group has a wealth of experience and wants to help nurture a vibrant and growing business community that supports local people and makes the south-east edge of Auckland a great place to live and work.

Programme organisers say the new format will see businesses take part in a programme that focuses on enhancing their capability in a range of key business disciplines in the first year and then build on this experience with the opportunity to enter the business awards programme the following year.

Businesses wanting further information can contact Emma Rahui on (09) 295 2337 or erahui@papakura.govt.nz. From August 7, comprehensive information about the Programme will also be available from its new dedicated web site: www.bestbiz.co.nz
