WANAKA

World skiing icon Scot Schmidt has blown into New Zealand’s South Island

gracing Wanaka for the next three days only!

New Zealand being the southern hemisphere’s winter playground, and Scot having

visited seven times before, this born and bred ski pioneer from the north

couldn’t wait to get back to a town known for its outdoor adventure calendar

and the call of the wild.

From the humble beginnings of tuning skies as a young skier in Helena, Montana,

Scot is now one of the most inspirational extreme skiers globally, staring in

multiple films such as Blizard of Aahhs and Licence to Groove. After being

scouted from behind the counter for his first film Ski Time, Scot developed a

‘controlled’ style to conquer an ‘out-of-control sport setting himself apart

from his daredevil peers.

Being a master at death-defying moves has also lead to playing the roles of

technical consultant, stuntman and stunt coordinator across the film industry.

In addition to acting and assisting the production of extreme ski films, this

adrenaline junky is also quite the entrepreneur having recently developed a pro

model signature ski. He is also a technical consultant and designer for the

world’s premier ski and outdoor brand The North Face, developing the ‘Steep

Tech’ line of skiwear.

When he is not out taking skiing beyond the humanly possible and coming up with

the latest in high tech ski gear, Scot can often be found at the beach,

surfing, or relaxing with his wife and family, or enjoying adventure motor

cross.
