TE AWAMUTU

At about 6:15pm this evening a man has entered the Puniu Road Dairy at Te Awamutu confronting the shop-keeper and demanding that she hand over cigarettes. He brandished a long bladed knife that he pointed it at the shop-keeper while making his demands.

The store-keeper made an excuse to go to the rear of the shop and consult with another worker. The offender then left without taking any items.

The offender is described as male Caucasian, approximately 178 to 182 cms tall, slim build and wearing blue jeans, black hooded sweat shirt, brown baseball cap and black bandana that he wore covering most of his face.

Police are interested in talking to anyone with information about the incident and in particular would like to speak with a female customer that was in the shop prior to the incident. The female customer was Caucasian, aged 15 or 16 years and purchased rubbish bags.

Any information should be directed to Detective SMITH of the Te Awamutu CIB at 07 872 0100.
