At about 9.30pm on Saturday the 22nd of November 2008 two armed men burst into the New World Supermarket in Silverstream and robbed the young staff working at the supermarket of cash and cigarettes.

One of the men was armed with a firearm and the other with a sharp implement similar to a screwdriver
Both were disguised with balaclava styled masks with eye holes. They have been described as male, solid/fat build, tall, wearing dark clothing.

They stole cigarettes and an undisclosed sum of money.

Both men left the supermarket after the robbery and got into a white coloured, Mazda Familia 4 door sedan, motor vehicle with a licence plate number RQ4992.

This vehicle was parked in the driveway immediately outside the front entrance to the supermarket.
The vehicle used had been stolen from Porirua earlier in the day.

Although very distraught, fortunately none of the staff or witnesses were injured as a result of the robbery.
