Manukau CIB have arrested a 43 year old unemployed man in relation to the unlawful taking of a car from Papakura on Thursday 19 February 2009.
The car contained a 2 year old child when it was stolen.
The vehicle and the child were located 90 minutes later outside some local shops.
The man is being held in police custody and will be appearing at the Papakura District Court on Monday 23 February 2009.
He has been charged with Kidnapping, Unlawful Taking of a Motor Vehicle and Abandoning a Child under 6.
