MOTUEKA

At about 9.45am this morning, 26 June 2009, Motueka police were advised that two boys, aged 5 years and 7 years, had not arrived at their school.

The boys had left Inglis Street, Motueka shortly before 8am this morning, to walk up Inglis Street, south on High Street and turned right into Pah Street.

From there, their normal route is to cross Pah Street, enter Talbot Street, walk down Talbot Street, and then across the Motueka High School grounds, where they catch the school bus on Grey Street, to their primary school. The boys have, at times, been known to walk down Pah Street and left into Grey Street, thereby avoiding the High School grounds.

Police have ascertained the boys did not make it to the bus. They have been seen on CCTV on the corner of High and Pah Streets at 7.59am. There have been no sightings since this time.

Police have launched an extensive search of the boys' normal route to the school bus.

An area canvas of the township has begun, along with the outlying areas surrounding their route.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen these boys on their travels this morning to contact the Motueka police immediately.

A description and the boys' names is attached.
