PORIRUA

At approximately 5.10am on Sunday 5 August 2007, two men in their early 20s, one armed with a large kitchen knife, entered Denny's Restaurant at 2 Semple Street in Porirua.

They approached the duty manager, threatened her with the knife and obtained a quantity of cash of various denominations, says Detective Lance Herring.

The first offender is believed to be a light skinned male with freckles. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a blue and white bandanna across his face, black material tracksuit pants with a white stripe down the outside leg, gloves and white and black casual shoes. He is approximately 6ft tall and of slim build.

The second offender is described as a male Maori or Polynesian, approximately 5ft 8-10in tall and of podgy build. He was also wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with dark material across his face and blue jeans.

Police would like to hear from anyone who was at Denny's restaurant or near the location between 4:45am and 5:15am.

Anyone with information can contact Detectives Lance Herring or David Jones at the Porirua Police Station on Tel: 238 1400.
