UPPER HUTT

Police are seeking information to help piece together the movements of an Upper Hutt woman found dead on Tuesday night.

Upper Hutt Senior Sergeant Jason McCarthy says information on sightings are needed to find out what happened to Cushla Braddock prior to being found.

"Our investigation is focused on reconstructing Cushla's movements prior to her very unfortunate death. I thank members of the public who have provided valuable information, but more is required.

"We need to know what happened in the two days before she was found. We know she frequented the Hutt River banks on walks and was also a regular visitor to shops in Upper Hutt and Quensgate Mall, Lower Hutt. She used public transport to get to Lower Hutt and Wellington."

Senior Sergeant McCarthy says preliminary post-mortem results were received last night. They indicate that the death is not suspicious with a probable cause of drowning.

Cushla was last seen leaving her home on Sunday 3 January at around 4pm. At that time she was wearing a grey t-shirt, blue jeans and white sneakers. She was found in the Hutt River by a group of passing youths on Tuesday 5 January at 7pm.
