Award-winning New Zealand author Tessa Duder is to lead free workshops for writers at each of the three District libraries this month. Each workshop will take writers through voice, genre, structure, dialogue and teach aspiring authors how to present their work to prospective publishers.

Tessa says writers "will be asked to participate in several exercises and contribute to what I expect to be a lively discussion."

Thames-Coromandel District Council (TCDC) District Library Coordinator Linda Hayfield said "Questions about any aspect of publishing will also be welcome."

Tessa Duder is possibly best known as an author for young people, having written the Alex novels as well as well-known titles such as Night Race to Kawau and Jellybean. Tessa has also written non-fiction for children and adults, such as Margaret Mahy, a writer's life, Salt beneath the skin and Seduced by the sea; two top-selling anthologies of true sea-stories told in the first-person by New Zealanders.

Prose writers of fiction and non-fiction are invited to attend at Thames, Tairua or Mercury Bay libraries.
