Always wanted to mountain bike but need to learn a few skills first? Come along to the Phundamentals mountain bike clinic and find out how you can make the most of Hutt City’s great bike tracks this summer.

The workshops are part of the Hutt Valley Summer of Cycling and Hutt City Council’s recreation and events manager Duncan Chisholm says they are ideal for people just starting out or those who want to brush up on their skills.

“You’ll learn how to corner properly and overcome obstacles, as well as riding techniques like the correct use of brakes and gears,” he says.

The Phundamentals clinic provides a great opportunity for people who want to learn in a safe and supportive environment with specialised advice from local instructor Tryfan Ephraim from MTB Skills Clinics.

The Phundamentals clinic is being held on Saturday 26 February from 10am to 4pm at the Wainuiomata Trail Park in Wainuiomata.

The clinic is free but booking is essential. Contact Zoe Firth on 04 560 0309 or email events@huttcity.govt.nz.

All participants must provide their own helmet and mountain bike, which must be in good working order. For those who do not have their own bike, a bike may be hired from local bike hire shops including Burdans Gate Bikes, Hutt Valley i-SITE Visitors Centre, Cycle Science and V.I.C Cycles.

For information about other cycling events happening in Hutt City this summer pick up a Hutt Valley Summer of Cycling booklet from your local bike shop or council facility, or visit www.huttcity.govt.nz
