Mt Ruapehu ski promotion is fair dinkum

 

A Mt Ruapehu and Tourism New Zealand promotion in Australia for a one day ski deal on a daily special offer web site has achieved unprecedented interest.

The Ski New Zealand's North Island promotion, was snapped up with 20,000 Mt Ruapehu Ski Passes purchased for $1 each in less than two hours.

Tourism New Zealand spokesperson, Suzanne Carter said the interest generated through the website of the offer aimed at Australian skiers and promoting Mt Ruapehu at winter time was phenomenal.

"The deal has gone absolutely gangbusters.  The interest has been amazing.  If anyone needed any convincing on the power of online media then the success of this promotion just shows that if you have got the great fun experiences that people want…and Mt Ruapehu has great skiing… they will get attention."

Mike Smith, Marketing Manager Ruapehu Alpine Lifts  said the interest in the North Island ski fields was great news for the region.

"We're looking forward to welcoming Australians to the North Island ski fields during our fantastic winter season.

The offer proved so popular that some lucky kiwis were believed to have snapped up the exceptional offer.

"Early indications are that about 800 cheeky kiwis secured the offer too. We want to reassure them that Mt Ruapehu will honour their purchase. Our message to them is to bring their friends and family and share their good fortune."
