Kapiti Police investigating aggravated robbery at Countdown Supermarket in Paraparaumu

Kapiti Police are investigating an aggravated robbery at Countdown supermarket in Paraparaumu, which occurred early this morning.

Officer in charge of the Kapiti CIB Detective Sergeant Ian Martin says a female staff member was confronted by a male offender armed with a knife in the office area of the supermarket at about 5:30am."

"The offender then made off with a sum of money from the safe, and left, leaving the victim extremely shaken, but unharmed."

Detective Sergeant Martin says Police were then notified about 7:30am, when a staff member found the victim in the office area of the supermarket.

"This was a really frightening incident for the victim and we are asking anyone who was in the vicinity of Countdown between 5am and 6am this morning to contact us if they saw anyone or anything suspicious."

Police are currently at the scene and a thorough scene examination is being carried out. Police are working towards obtaining a firm description of the offender. Further enquiries are continuing.
