Kapiti Mana Police have smashed a second alleged burglary ring in Porirua in as many months.

Detective Sergeant Steve Dunn, officer in charge of the Porirua CIB Crime Control Unit says Police received a report from a member of the public in Cannons Creek yesterday who had witnessed some suspicious behaviour.

"A uniformed police patrol arrived shortly after and arrested three men, aged 16, 17 and 27 years. This was then followed up today with a search warrant on a Mungavin Ave address in Porirua, where a large amount of items stolen in recent burglaries around the city have been located."

Detective Sergeant Dunn says Police have recovered music systems, games consoles and digital cameras, jewellery, clothing and other personal items.

"Less than two months ago, a group of people were arrested after a large amount of stolen property was recovered. On this latest occasion, burglaries were the result of houses being insecure."

He says, "Police encourage anyone who sees any suspicious behaviour to phone Police as soon as possible. We also encourage people to secure windows and doors when they go out. It only takes a few minutes to gain entry and steal easily moved commodities like laptops and electronic game consoles."

Further charges are expected to be laid against the three men arrested yesterday and Police cannot rule out further arrests.
