Kapiti Police have arrested a 38 year old man in connection to an aggravated robbery at Countdown supermarket in Paraparaumu eleven days ago.

At around 5:30am on Friday 16 September 2001, it's alleged a female staff member was confronted by a man armed with a knife in the office area at the supermarket and a sum of money was taken from the safe. The victim was unharmed in the incident but extremely shaken.

Officer in charge of the Kapiti CIB Detective Sergeant Ian Martin says the 38 year old Kapiti man was arrested in Porirua yesterday afternoon.

"The man will be appearing in the Porirua District Court this morning charged with aggravated robbery and kidnapping."

Enquiries into the aggravated robbery are continuing.
