Wairarapa Police investigating River Road incident

Wairarapa Police are investigating an incident at an address in River Road, Masterton in the early hours of this morning, after a woman was assaulted.

Detective Senior Sergeant Sean Hansen, officer in charge of the Wairarapa CIB says the 23 year old victim presented at Masterton Police Station at about 1:30am, with injuries sustained as a result of a beating.

"At this stage, it appears four women have forced their way into the victim's home and assaulted her. The victim was transported to Masterton Hospital by ambulance where she was treated for bruising, swelling and abrasions. She has since been discharged."

D/S/S Hansen says a scene examination is being completed at the address today and further enquiries are underway.

"We're following strong lines of enquiry however we would like to hear from anyone with any information or who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in River Road in the early hours of this morning."
