Upper Hutt Police still need help from the public following an incident at the Silverstream Railway Station on Sunday afternoon.

Officer in charge of the Upper Hutt CIB Detective Sergeant Richard Orr says at around 2pm on Sunday 22 January, a female teenager was approached by an unknown male and indecently assaulted.

"Luckily the victim managed to run away and the offender chased her for a short distance before running off. We are still very keen to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of Silverstream Railway Station who either witnessed the incident or saw the offender."

Detective Sergeant Orr says the offender is described as a New Zealand European, aged about 50 of medium build with brownish hair, bright blue eyes and crooked yellowing teeth.

"He was wearing jeans, faded brown sandals, a black hooded top and a faded grey baseball cap woth the word GREGG written in red across the front. He was also carrying a dirty black backpack."

Detective Sergeant Orr says anyone who can assist Police with their enquiries should phone Upper Hutt Police on (04) 527 2300 or phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
