Temporary seal is keeping Hastings Street free from loose grave and providing parking while the first stage of the redevelopment pushes ahead.

Traffic has been moved to the seaward side of the street, as work focuses on the western footpath. Final road shaping and sealing will be done as the project nears completion in November.

In this next phase of work, trees, bollards, rubbish bins and bike stands will go in on the western side of Hastings Street from Albion Street to Station Street.

Ducts for power and telecommunications providers and light pole foundations are also to be installed from Station Street to the Napier Courthouse, and the existing kerb and channel removed.
