WELLINGTON CITY

Karori Park is all set to host some first-class cricket action again this season - so pack the family and a picnic and come to the 'village green'.

Karori Park is the city's back-up venue for first-class cricket and, with the Basin Reserve temporarily out of action for a surface upgrade, we're working in partnership with the Stadium Trust and Cricket Wellington to produce and maintain a first-class wicket at the park.

This season, the Wellington women's team Blaze compete against the Central Hinds in Twenty-20 and one-day matches from 23 - 25 November, followed by the Firebirds taking on the Central Stags on 10 - 13 December. Karori Park will also host the Firebirds and Northern Knights on 17 - 20 December.

The Council's Sportsfields Operations Manager, Julian Emeny, says the park is a different experience from the Basin with a 'village-green atmosphere', easy parking, cafe and a bus stop right outside.
