Marlborough comes to town

Aucklanders get the chance to sample the best food and wine from one of New Zealand’s most renowned food and wine regions early next year.

Marlborough is coming to town for a four-day Marlborough Dinner Series at award-winning restaurant The Grill by Sean Connolly.

The one-time event celebrates the very best of the region’s world-class fresh produce and spectacular wines – meaning Aucklanders will get a taste of the region in their own celebrated city eatery, The Grill.

Four premiere Marlborough wineries are set to showcase their finest drops, with one taking centre stage each day. Each accompanies a fabulous four course menu consisting of classic Marlborough ingredients including Ōra King Salmon and Cloudy Bay clams, to name but two.

Guests can take their pick from the best of the best with wineries Hans Herzog Estate, Nautilus Estate, Seresin Estate and Hunters Wines each signing up for an evening to feature their wines, matched alongside Marlborough’s finest produce.

As a fan of the region, The Grill’s Sean Connolly plans to create beautifully balanced dishes that enable the Marlborough food and wine to shine.

With its rich soils and clear waters, Marlborough has a strong reputation for producing world class food and wine and increasingly Aucklanders are visiting the region for culinary tourism.

Destination Marlborough general manager Tracy Johnston believes the Marlborough Dinner Series is a fantastic way to broaden Aucklanders’ knowledge of the region’s providence.

“The world tells us we produce some of the best wine and food around and we’re keen to share it.  We envisage this event will inspire more Aucklanders to head straight to the source.   With daily direct flights between Auckland and Marlborough you can be landing in the heart of New Zealand’s largest wine growing region in just over an hour, and be sitting in a winery restaurant moments later.”

Hosted in the award-winning Federal Street restaurant’s mezzanine area, guests experience all Marlborough has to offer in an intimate setting of just 40 people per evening.
