Two men charged for Countdown aggravated robberies

Palmerston North Police have arrested and charged two men, an 18 year-old and 22 year-old, in connection with the aggravated robberies of Broadway Countdown on 23 December 2012 and Feilding Countdown on 27 December 2012.

They will appear in the Palmerston North District Court on 4 January 2013 each facing two counts of aggravated robbery. Bail is opposed by Police.

Detective Sergeant Ashley Gurney said: “It is likely that at subsequent court appearances that they will face charges in connection with the incident at the Kelvin Grove Countdown on 23 December 2012.”

“The information and support provided from members of the public in all three incidences assisted significantly with this result and is greatly appreciated by Police."

As the matter is now before the Court, no further comment will be made.
