PALMERSTON NORTH

Palmerston North City Council’s Eco Design Advisor would like to help many more families to plan for a smarter, healthier home for their children, with lower power bills and reduced impact on the environment.

There is much room for improving houses in our city.  A study on the effects on New Zealand children of improving homes concluded that symptoms of asthma, days off school, healthcare utilisation and visits to a pharmacist were significantly reduced as a consequence.

Houses of different eras -even brand new ones- will throw a different challenge at you.  Our climate and ground conditions require a suitable response as well.  A house needs to provide for your cultural and family needs but it may have been designed for somebody else.

When: Thursday 31 January 5pm-7pm

Where: City Library, Sound & Vision (Access from George St, or the Square)

RSVP: settlementsupport@pncc.govt.nz

RSVPs are recommended, as spaces are limited for this event.

In this workshop you will explore

  • hot to improve your home;
  • how to find a better home to rent or buy;
  • how to take full advantage of the wonderful opportunities that open when you renovate or build a new house;
  • drafting a wish-list for your dream home.

Whether you are new to Palmerston North or not, this Christmas gift your family a plan for a smarter, healthier home.  This free workshop will help you to develop your plan, so we hope to see you there.

We would like to thank Maddie, Hannah, Jess, Bree, Millar, Finn, Oliver and Cam of Russell Street School, who have kindly provided eco-house and city models they built at school for us to learn from.
