Exclusive rural lifestyle development Bendemeer has enlisted the skills of renowned architects Mason & Wales to design their new concept homes due to start construction next month.

Referred to as the “contemporary barn at Lot 22”, the development’s first concept home was designed by award-winning architect Francis Whitaker to reflect the form of the land and the stunning rural outlook.

Bendemeer Marketing Executive Sarah Cairns said the idea to create concept homes on certain lots was in response to market demand and to help simplify the building process for potential owners.

“We are seeing more enquiries for ‘turn-key’ land and home packages from those who want to build their dream home in this idyllic location, without the hassle of the building and consent process,” Ms Cairns said.

Three more homes are proposed to be built once Lot 22 is finished and all four homes are available to purchase off the plans or once building is complete.

Mr Whitaker said Bendemeer’s sense of space and rural living had inspired his design for the four concept homes, which will be built using local materials such as schist and cedar.

“Bendemeer is a very special place because of its seclusion and privacy, and the way in which it connects with the rim of mountains that wrap around the Wakatipu Basin. It’s a wonderful sense of space,” he said.

Looking back on the property’s history as a working farm, Mr Whitaker was inspired by the combination of the agrarian setting and the surrounding alpine landscape, resulting in designs that make the most of stunning views and all day sun, while also blending contemporary and traditional design with functionality in open living spaces.

The build will be overseen by development management company Trinity Development Alliance, whose co-director Wayne Foley is well-known for the development of several iconic commercial and residential properties in the Wakatipu, such as the Commonage Close Apartments on Queenstown Hill, also designed by Mr Whitaker.

He said: “Trinity is incredibly excited to be involved with Bendemeer and the potential to create and develop well-presented prestigious premier residences for its future owners.”

Bendemeer sections range from one to three hectares and are priced from $645,000 with land and house packages starting from $ 1.8million.

Bendemeer offers a limited number of exceptional home sites and home and land packages. With tree-laced lanes, gentle rolling pastures, private mountain lakes and rich wildlife, Bendemeer captures the rural and raw essence of a South Island high country sheep station, offering a unique lifestyle opportunity.
