New Timaru Crown Solicitor appointed

Andrew Robert McRae, a partner at law firm Gresson Dorman & Co, has been appointed Crown Solicitor for Timaru, Attorney-General Christopher Finlayson announced today.

Mr McRae takes over the role of Crown Solicitor for Timaru from Tim Gresson, following Mr Gresson’s retirement from the Crown Solicitor role. Mr Gresson remains a partner of Gresson Dorman & Co.

Mr McRae graduated from Canterbury University in 1999. Until 2007 he was employed with the Christchurch Crown Solicitor’s office, Raymond Donnelly, prosecuting over 100 trials as sole counsel and assisting Senior Counsel in a number of homicide prosecutions and other trials.

In late 2007 Mr McRae joined Gresson Dorman & Co. He was appointed an associate in 2008 and partner in 2009.

Mr McRae has been involved in over 150 trials as lead counsel. Mr McRae’s criminal trial work has included homicide, drug and fraud trials. He has conducted a large number of department prosecutions and also has general civil litigation experience.

Mr McRae’s appointment took effect on 1 February 2013.
