To kick off 2013, Nike Football has recently unveiled a series of National Team Kits to showcase the latest innovations in football apparel.

In line with Nike’s commitment to combining superior athletic performance with lower environmental impact, fabric for the new kit’s shorts is made with 100 percent recycled polyester, while the shirt fabric is made with a minimum 96 percent recycled polyester.

Each kit is made using an average 13 recycled plastic bottles.

Each federation’s kit is constructed with Nike Dri-FIT technology to wick moisture and is made out of 23 percent lighter fabric with 20 percent stronger knit structure than previous versions.

The jerseys also feature laser-cut ventilation to promote localized cooling and to help regulate players’ temperatures during a match. The kits are infused with design elements inspired by each nation’s history and heritage.

French Football Federation Away Kit
Innovation, performance and elegance have become key features of the French Football Federation uniforms since Nike began its partnership with the national team. The new French away kit for 2013 is no exception; an eye-catching pale blue silhouette with tricolour detail fusing French tradition with style and pride.

Portugal 2013 Away Kit
Nike's new Portugal away kit for 2013 is a striking black shirt with black shorts and black socks inspired by the volcanic rock associated with the country and the expressive nature of its renowned football heritage.
The distinctive black Portuguese basalt rock is a volcanic stone used extensively across the country and is the inspiration behind the strong new color used from head to toe on the new kit.

Brazil 2013 Away Kit
The Nike Brazil 2013 Away kits honors the team’s heritage, pride and passion with a stylish, authentic representation of the country’s ability to not only dazzle the football world but also compete within it. While the traditional yellow home jersey reflects the beauty of Brazilian football, the new away kit reminds us the team is always ready to battle for victory.

The shirt was first revealed during the Batalha Das Quadras event in Rio de Janeiro on Feb. 1, where legendary footballer Ronaldo joined other iconic Brazilian athletes to unveil the jersey on stage. Participating athletes included UFC fighter Junior Cigano, long jumper Maurren Maggi and basketball player Marcelo Machado.

Netherlands 2013 Away Kit
The Netherland’s away kit, unveiled at the soon to be re-opened Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam by national team players Kevin Strootman, Ricardo van Rhijn and Adam Maher, has a striking new look that takes the three colours of the Dutch national flag and incorporates them into a vivid and eye-catching design.

The new away strip mirrors the home shirt, which has two shapes, one covering the crest, the other at the hem. On the new white away kit the shape above the crest is red and the one at the hem is blue; utilising the colours of the Dutch flag. The shapes point to the Netherlands’ relationship with geometry and space.

The Dutch football logic is based on simplicity and that is the essence of total football – the Dutch’s gift to the game – that was built on the simple and effective use of space on the pitch.
