New Zealand’s largest shopping comparison site PriceMe has just launched a touch version of their popular price comparison site, to enable the growing number of mobile phone and tablet users access to shopping and price information on the go or from any device.

Chris Palmer, PriceMe’s marketing director says that around 20% of the 750,000 visitors to PriceMe each month are arriving via mobile devices such as phones or tablets, so we wanted to create a consistent browsing experience for our users no matter what device they are using to access the internet. He said the development and roll-out of the touch version was part of the ongoing improvement and evolution of PriceMe’s service to its growing community of users.

The touch version of PriceMe uses responsive web design and is optimised so that the page renders well and fits the numerous screen sizes and resolutions found on smartphones and tablets, with minimum loss of functionality from the standard desktop version of PriceMe. Palmer says that the touch version has been well-received so far with average page views per visit increasing by about 20%. The average visitor time being 1min 35sec, which is less than visitors spend on the desktop version, and reflects that some users are accessing PriceMe on the go or instore. It’s expected that the amount of time each visitor spends browsing the touch version of PriceMe will increase as they become familiar and comfortable with the new format.
