Tararua mayor Maureen Reynolds is calling for some retailer support at the northern end of Dannevirke whilst the High St Refurbishment Project is in progress.
“Retailers are experiencing a downturn in business and I ask the public to make every effort to shop at these premises,” she said.
Businesses from west side Gordon to Allardice Streets have been in the grip of a major infrastructural upgrade prior to the above ground landscaping that will herald the long awaited ‘new look’ for the town.
Access to shops has been hampered as a result despite contractor’s best efforts to keep disruption to a minimum.
Mrs Reynolds said she hoped contractors would stop work early in December so that visitors and locals could shop without disruption in the weeks approaching Christmas.
