LG Electronics is often regarded as the quiet innovator, a pioneering manufacturer of TVs, white goods and mobile phones with the engaging promise, “Life’s Good”.

Many people don’t realise that LG are leaders in the manufacture of high tech LCD screens that go into high performance smart phones and tablets. When it comes to whiteware, LG front loading washing machines have been the top selling brand in Australia and the USA, where they’ve been number one for six consecutive years.

Recently appointed National Marketing Manager Glen Chean says there’s going to be nothing quiet about LG from now on. He’s overseeing an aggressive local growth strategy that will see Kiwis joining international customers in enjoying more of LG’s industry-leading products.

“LG are at the cutting edge of technology, spending millions of dollars a year on research and development,” says Chean. “Although relatively new in New Zealand with sales and market share growing rapidly, I’m looking forward to bringing more of LG’s amazing products to New Zealand, and creating new ways to enhance Kiwis’ experience of LG and our products.”

He plans to continue building the brand’s visibility, focusing on some astonishing technological breakthroughs – including the category-redefining new Ultra High Definition and Organic LED TVs.

“LG is leading the way in display panel technologies. It’s is one of the very few brands researching and launching such a wide range of TVs, including LCD, LED and plasma. Further, they are pioneers in emerging Ultra High Definition and Organic LED TV technologies.”

Chean believes that LG has the technology, the products, and the understanding of Kiwis’ everyday lives to have a major impact on the local market. His goal: “LG will become the leading TV and whitegoods brand in New Zealand.”

He is well qualified to achieve his bold vision. Prior to joining LG, Chean was responsible for managing Samsung NZ’s television and audio-visual business, launching both 3D and Smart TV technologies into New Zealand and achieved record sales and market share. Prior to Samsung, Chean was also responsible for launching BRAVIA TV for Sony and their sub-brand in 2005. Chean is known in the consumer electronics industry for his strategic business expertise and results in optimising corporate performance. He completed an MBA at the University of Auckland in 2010.
