QUEENSTOWN

Queenstown’s Coronet Peak ski area and nearby exclusive The Hills golf course have teamed up to offer the Ultimate Winter Experience.

Available from now until the end of August, it combines the exhilaration of morning skiing with the prestige of golfing at one of New Zealand’s most exclusive clubs in one glorious day.

The day starts enjoying the fresh powder or groomed corduroy from 8am at Coronet Peak, a delicious brunch at the award-winning The Hills clubhouse near Arrowtown, and nine holes of golf at the world-class course including a golf cart and club hire.

The package is available from Wednesday to Sunday throughout July and August, and costs just $299 per person.

Coronet Peak Ski Area Manager Ross Copland said the experience was one not to be missed.

“At first light you’ll be flying down a freshly-groomed mountain when it’s relatively quiet, whetting your appetite for a hearty brunch,” he said.

“It’s just a short, scenic 20-minute drive from the Coronet Peak base building to The Hills, where after brunch  you can stretch your legs and take in nine holes of golf looking back at the snow-capped Coronet Peak and The Remarkables.

“The mountain and the course are stunningly beautiful settings and, in the case of The Hills, incredibly exclusive.”

Sir Michael Hill’s renowned private golf course, usually only accessible to members or those playing with members, is set over 500 acres of land and boasts lakes, waterways and wetland areas complemented by a stunning array of sculptures from local and international artists.

Mr Copland said the experience offered the ‘perfect’ day for ski and golf lovers.

“It’s an opportunity to join the First Tracks ‘club’ with other enthusiasts and locals who love the chance to experience the best of what the mountain delivers with freshly-groomed trails, soft morning light, the short to non-existent queues and the like-minded attitude of fellow first trackers, for a real sense of freedom.

“It really is the ultimate ‘snowy mountains and green valley’ experience that is available in very few ski resorts around Australasia.”

Bookings for the Ultimate Winter Experience package are essential through the NZSki Snow Centre in central Queenstown or guest services at Coronet Peak.
