Award-winning Gibbston Valley Winery is once again hosting a Gala Dinner and Charity Auction to raise money for Cure Kids the winery’s charity of choice.

To honour the occasion, Gibbston Valley has teamed up with Cure Kids’ supporter and entertainer, Peter Urlich who will be performing as a Duet with talented sax/flute player, Lewis McCallum at the gala event held September 21 in the winery’s
Barrel Hall.

The Peter Urlich Duet are well-known for their swinging renditions of classic songs from the 50’s and 60’s including Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett, Nat Cole and more.

Urlich said his performance will be “an unashamed homage to the swing era. It's also a wonderful opportunity for cheek-to-cheek dancing,”

Peter will also play a DJ set to finish the night with a bang.

The evening will consist of a sumptuous five-course degustation dinner and wine pairings presented by Winemaker Christopher Keys.

Afterwards guests will have the option to bid on various items donated for the charity auction, with all proceeds from the auction going to Cure Kids.

Charity auction items include rare and large-format wine bottles donated by Gibbston Valley Winery as well as items from other local businesses including the Hilton Queenstown Resort & Spa, fashion designer Claire Bloom and Totally Tourism.

As well as raising money to help benefit Cure Kids the event marks the release of Gibbston Valley’s 2012 Single Vineyard Pinot Noirs.

Gibbston Valley Winery CEO Greg Hunt said the company was once again “delighted” to support such an important and worthwhile cause.

“We hope we can build on the success of last year’s gala event which raised over $19,000 for Cure Kids,” he said.

“It promises to be a wonderful evening of divine food, fantastic wine, great entertainment and an array of sought-after auction items, which will raise yet more funds for Cure Kids, a charity that’s very close to our hearts.”

Throughout the month of August Gibbston Valley has been fundraising for the Cure Kids Red Nose Appeal at Gibbston Valley Winery Restaurant and Cellar Door in Gibbston, and A Taste of Gibbston Valley Café in Arrowtown.

Customers are able make small donations when each bill is settled, with all proceeds going to Cure Kids.

“Even the smallest contribution will really help this great charity and combined with the proceeds of the gala dinner night will add up to an invaluable donation from our winery and our valued customers,” said Mr Hunt.

Tickets for the gala dinner cost $150 per person. Tickets are on sale through www.gibbstonvalleynz.com, by emailing rsvp@gibbstonvalleynz.com, or calling the winery direct on 03 442 6910

Return transport from Queenstown, Frankton and Arrowtown can also be pre-booked and purchased for $20 per person before the event.

In its continued support of the charity, Gibbston Valley Winery will also be part of the activity-based Cure Kids event, the $10 Challenge to be held in early October.

“This promises to be a lot of fun. Details of the challenge are under wraps until the day to keep participants on their toes,” said Mr Hunt.

“Together we can really make a difference to the lives of the sick children and their families Cure Kids represents throughout the country.

“This year we’ve put our thinking caps on to create even more ways over the coming weeks and months in which our customers and staff can get involved and raise as much money as we can.”
