Sacred Heart Girls' College Hamilton connects with students through social media.

The Gateway and Careers Centre at Sacred Heart Girls’ College in Hamilton is moving into fresh territory by using their brand new cutting-edge Facebook  page to connect more closely with their students.

“It’s all about connecting and communicating with students,” says Kersti Mead-Johnstone, Gateway co-ordinator.

“And that is exactly what the School Connect social media package does,” she says.

The Gateway and Careers Centre at Sacred Heart Girls’ College in Hamilton provides its students information about employment skills, as well as career trends and industry knowledge.

Through the Gateway programme there are many career opportunities presented for students.

Gateway has already developed positive relationships between Sacred Heart Girls’ College and businesses.  “This creates invaluable business experiences for our students,” says Kersti.

The Gateway and Careers Centre there has also been some success in creating jobs for our students whilst studying.

Sacred Heart Girls’ College has teamed up with social media experts MediaPA to help with the move onto the online space.

MediaPA provide a strategic and managed approach to social media and it operates not only on Facebook, but also sets up Twitter, Pinterest and YouTube platforms for schools.

It reflects the schools values, its community and will feature newsletters, ERO reports, events and other pertinent school information.

“The School Connect system is incredibly easy to use and flexible. It is simple for staff to keep up-to-date and a comprehensive training documents and video are included in the package price,” says Phillip Quay, managing director of MediaPA.

MediaPA has an Australasian client base and also promote premier dance group, J Geeks, and New Zealand’s top female athlete Camille Buscomb.

The team at Gateway and Careers Centre at Sacred Heart Girls’ College includes,Trish Pascoe who is the careers advisor and teacher for many years. Kersti Mead-Johnstone who is the Gateway Co-ordinator, part-time tutor at WINTEC and works part-time in Hospitality and Toby McIntyre who is and Employment Skills and Tourism teacher, and Year Level Dean.
